When visiting the Lofoten and especially Moskenesøya, Reinebringen should be on top of every hikers list. It is a relatively short but really steep and challenging hike (40% - 70%). Even though the summit is at only 448 meter it provides some of the best and breathtaking panoramic views of Reinefjorden, Kjerkfjorden, Reine, Sakrisøy, Hamnøy and the famous Lofoten Wall. It is recommened to wait for one or two dry days in a row so the mountainside can dry a bit and is not too wet and slippery. We did the hike on the end of august after one sunny day without rain and I think ... Continue reading →

Bunes Beach is located pretty isolated on the western side of Reinefjorden, near Vindstad and Bunesfjorden on the Moskenesøya island, Norway. Next to Kvakvika Beach it is one of the most scenic beaches of the Lofoten. With its tuquoise waters and the white sandy beach it is a must-see location when visiting the Lofoten islands in Northern Norway.
To get there we catched the last regular ferry of the season from Reine to Vindstad at the end of August at about ten in the morning. If you don't want to camp and spend the night there be sure to check the ferry's ... Continue reading →

With its two summits Tjeldbergtinden is the table mountain of the area between Svolvaer and Kabelvåg. Even though it is "only" 367m high and by far not the highest mountain of the region both summits provide awesome panoramic views over the cities of Svolvaer, Kabelvåg and Vågan with the whole Vestfjord including Skrova and Litlmolla to the East and a lot of lakes like Stor- Kongsvatnet, Madsvatnet, Karlsvatnet and of course the impressive mountains Vågakallen (943m) to the South and Fløya (590m) to the North.
The start of the hike ... Continue reading →

Kvalvika is located on the northern side of the Moskenesøya island. It is one of the most scenic beaches on the Lofoten. With its tuquoise waters and the golden sandy beach it is a must-see location when visiting the Lofoten islands in Northern Norway. You will find it quite isolated between some massive vertical cliffs and only accessable by foot for fit hikers. The surrounding mountains rise up more than 500 meter straight from the beach. The beach is an incredibly beautiful and quite a unique view to enjoy.
To get there follow the E10 and pass the twin-bridges ... Continue reading →

Motivation
Today a lot of people (including possible clients) will first and foremost see your work online in some sort of a web gallery on your own personal website or social media like Facebook, Google+ or 500px. Therefore the resized web versions of your photos should be presented at their best.
Over the years I've tried lots of different methods and I am now using a combination of various techniques in order to get the best results possible. There are quite a few steps to do but you don't have to do them manually for each photo. I've built an Photoshop action set you ... Continue reading →

In June I was planning a several week trip through Scotland for the following month, which means I would be on tour at the same time when Le Tour is taking place. So I would not only miss the Soccer World Cup but above all my beloved Tour de France. You do what you can for photography, huh! In the screenshot (image below) you can see the planned route. This rough route stretches for about 2200 kilometers. With all the sightseeing, scouting and the distance Leipzig-Amsterdam-Leipzig the length of the trip was about 4500 kilometers.
A lot of planning and preparation took place ... Continue reading →

When we visited Rome a few weeks ago I had to realize that my current travel photo-backpack is not designed for long walks with heavy weight. In Rome we walked for hours each day and over 45km overall in three days. At the end of the second day my back hurts so bad that I could hardly move anymore. So the next day I only packed the absolute minimum equipment to carry through the city. Of course that day I missed a shot I could have nailed with another lens which I left in the hotel due to its weight. Of course I don't want this to happen again, hence this article.
When I planed and packed ... Continue reading →

Editor’s Note: If you ask any passionate landscape photographer what their dream location is, I’m fairly certain the majority of them would probably say Iceland. For those who might be wondering why, then let this incredible photograph be your answer – I for one, cannot take my eyes off it! Stephen Dickey
In September 2008 I was on a one week trip through Iceland with four guys from an independent ‘brand communications’ company from the UK, plus three Icelandic guides. The ... Continue reading →

This year we have visited and explored the Italian Dolomites during the autumn season in October. In the beginning of the year we originally planed to go to the famous Aletsch Glacier and the Matterhorn region around the village Zermatt in Switzerland but after a little online research in Google Maps, Earth and The Photographer's Ephemeris for possible photo opportunities, locations, sights and things to do there (beside hiking and photographing) and how to actually get there we both decided to look for an alternative and postpone the trip to an early summer season when the wild flowers ...
Continue reading →
