A beautiful vibrant sunrise over the Zschand valley with the rugged peaks (ltr) called Lorenzsteine, Heulenberg and Teichstein, all seen from a peak called Heringstein in Saxon Switzerland. The whole area strongly reminds me of Vizima and Velen (known from Witcher III). I really like exploring the area of the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland with all it's ancient hiking paths, mystical forests and wild mountains where once real robber knights used to live and walking through the woods was not as safe as today.
I know this place very well and I wanted to create this image for quite a while now. One only has a time window of a about a month per year to create this photo where the sun is at this position during sunrise. So far, either the weather was suboptimal or I had no time or motivation to be up there at 4:30 in the morning. My last attempt was two years ago where I had to cancel my mountain bivouac in the middle of the night due to a upcoming thunderstorm. So, this time I am pretty satisfied with the experience and the photographic outcome - and I must admit it's just an awesome and really enjoyable view to say the least.
